Metalfilms’ glass division, recently founded, deals with the processing of flat glasses.
Processing is developed after the submission of the customer’s requests. We are specialized in the production of tempered glass of small dimensions. Production takes place on demand. The raw material is large glass sheets, processed according to the customer’s drawings.
Generally, Metalfilms’ glass products are employed in the lighting industry, in diving masks, electric devices, light switch covers.
Metalfilms’s peculiarity is the production of small tempered glasses. On demand we produce also printed glasses.
The production starts with the supply of large glass sheets of different thicknesses and typologies, for example: clear – stopsol (half-reflecting) low-emissivity, patterned, etc.
An specific cutting table, computer controlled (CNC), cuts the glasses in the requested dimensions.
Subsequently the glass edges are finished. Two different edge finishing are available: polished edges realized by bilateral machines equipped with diamond tools; and grinded edges realized with abrasive ribbon.
Both methods are abrasive operations so it is very important to cool the glass sheet before proceeding, in order to avoid “damages” on the edges that could form small superficial fractures. These fractures are not visible, but they could provoke the glass breaking, even after some time.
The next two phases consist in Washing and drying the glasses. They are necessary to avoid any residual calcareous stains, not acceptable for our quality standards.
After the edge finishing we can make holes or prints using the silk-screen method with special machines which grant precision, velocity and repetitiveness.
